PROGRAMS
What we offer, in detail
This page covers each of our three program modalities, how they work together, and what to expect from an engagement.
THE CASE FOR PROACTIVE DEVELOPMENT
An hour now, or a lot of headaches later.
Most firms invest meaningfully in associate development. The investment usually arrives as a response, either to a retention problem, to declining engagement scores, or to specific associates who are visibly struggling. By the time those signals are clear enough to act on, the pain points and costs of lost productivity and turnover are often already inevitable.
But they weren’t always. To the contrary, there are many associates who go on to thrive in large-firm practice, and they tend to share a small set of habits and frameworks, like how they tackle new challenges, how they recover from setbacks, and how they sustain motivation.
These are learnable. They are not, however, learned automatically. Associates who develop these capacities early do so because someone taught them, intentionally, in language that respected their environment.
LawyerWise is built on the premise that this teaching is worth doing proactively.
Programs delivered to junior and mid-level associates are meaningfully less expensive than the cost of replacing the same associates four years later. They are also more effective, because the habits they build compound over the rest of an associate's career. The economics support proactive investment. The outcomes support it even more.
01
SEMINARS
Live, interactive sessions designed to install lasting frameworks.
LawyerWise seminars are designed to be the entry point for most firms. They run 60 minutes, can be delivered in-person or virtually, and are typically scheduled into existing professional development programming. The format combines a short presentation with structured discussion, exercises associates can take part in directly, and time for Q&A.

Implementation Commitments, Feedback, and Q&A
Each associate makes a concrete plan for implementation, feedback is collected to inform next steps, and any lingering questions are addressed.
Associates who complete a LawyerWise seminar leave with three evidence-based frameworks they can apply immediately, a participant worksheet that captures the session's key tools, and a clearer sense of how to sustain engagement through the long arc of legal practice. Firms can extend the engagement with follow-on coaching, additional seminars on related topics, or access to the Associate Happiness 101 video curriculum.
Coaching sessions can help deepen integration and application of seminar concepts. The next section covers how that works.
02
COACHING
Where seminar concepts become personal practice
Coaching is the modality where general frameworks meet specific challenges. Seminars give associates a shared vocabulary and a set of tools. Coaching gives them the time and structure to apply those tools to the challenges that are actually in front of them: the difficult partner, the unfamiliar practice area, the file they cannot stop thinking about at night, the fork-in-the-road career decision. Sessions are designed to be practical, not therapeutic. The work is forward-looking and tied to outcomes the associate cares about.
HOW IT’S DELIVERED
One-on-one
Small group
Cohorts of three to six associates, working together.
Common for class-year cohorts or practice-group teams who want to apply seminar concepts to shared challenges. The group format also creates peer accountability, as associates support each other’s progress between sessions, strengthening follow-through.
Hybrid
Combination programs that pair group and individual sessions.
For firms running large development programs, hybrid coaching combines group sessions for shared learning with individual sessions for personal application. The most common structure for a multi-month engagement, and typically the most cost-effective per associate.
Coaching can be delivered as a follow-on to a seminar program, with the seminar establishing shared vocabulary and the coaching deepening application. It can also be delivered as a standalone offering, especially for firms that want to invest in specific cohorts, like a mid-level group navigating a particularly demanding period, or juniors integrating these concepts for the first time.
For ongoing reinforcement of these concepts at scale, firms can add the Associate Happiness 101 video curriculum. The next section covers what’s in it.
Individual sessions for high-leverage cases.
Most often used for associates managing a difficult challenge or transition, or any associate the firm wants to invest in deliberately. 30–60 minutes per session, with 15-minute check-ins available for quick follow-ups, scheduled at the associate's convenience.
03
ASSOCIATE HAPPINESS 101 VIDEO SERIES
On-demand resilience training. Designed to actually be watched.
Associate Happiness 101 is the on-demand component of the LawyerWise system. Twelve short videos, five minutes each, grounded in positive psychology and resilience research, and built specifically for associates at large law firms. Each module focuses on one concept and provides practical tools the associate can implement immediately. The curriculum is designed to be watched independently, assigned as pre-work before a seminar, or used as an ongoing reinforcement resource between coaching sessions. No downloads or complicated logins required, and accessible on any device.
